I have been a Mammographer  for the past 15 years and a strong advocate for Breast Cancer awareness. The American Cancer Society reports that 1 of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

I have been diagnosed.

So what happens to a Mammo Tech who has diagnosed with Stage lll Breast Cancer?

Follow my journey, as I go thru the process while living on the beautiful island of Maui.

    Pina,
My prayers are with you my friend. Stay strong, hold on to the faith. I know that God will help you though this journey. I admire you being so strong through this trial. I will be praying for you and your sister every morning (my prayer chain). Pina your right, you got this and don’t you forget that. God is good!

Hi, I haven’t worked with you in years but of course see your life on social media 🙂 You are such a STRONG person. I am not sure if you remember but my Mom passed away from breast cancer when I worked in Radiology with you. She didn’t do anything about it and never told us. I just now after 8 mammograms had an abnormal one and will be going back for more views on Friday. I am also going to do the genetic testing this week. My Mom was 47 when she passed and I will be 40 next year. Take care and thank you for this page. I love to follow.

    • Thank you for reaching out, of coarse I remember you! I am truly sorry that you lost your mother at such a young age. I am glad that you have been having your annual mammograms, try not to stress about additional views, as they are just being very thorough. Thank you for reading my blog and please feel free to share it with anyone. Sending “much Aloha” your way!

  3. Hi Pina,

Kallie sent me a note about meeting you. I’d love to follow up! That darn voicemail is always my achilles heel, especially when the shop is busy and I’m in the fitting rooms. Here’s my email — let’s try to connect! I’m thinking of you paddling to Lanai today!!! I did that voyage 5 years ago, as a caregiver, in honor of my sister. It’s a wonderful experience (but I recall legs feeling like jello! lol) PerfectionBraFitting@gmail.com Til soon! Aloha, Terri Erwin

This is Pina, a lot has happened since our last communication. On October 22, my sister Bertha passed away from stage 4 breast cancer. I will be flying to California for the memorial, November 18th. I would love to try and meet with you and visit your store. My cell phone is 909-772-1254. I work on Kahului M-W this week perhaps after work on day? Aloha Pina

    Hi Pina,

Meeting you and listening to your story was one of the highlights of my internship this summer. I was so inspired by you that I made it a point to read all of your blog posts from the beginning and share it with a few of my classmates and teachers.

I pray for your continued good health so you can keep inspiring others the way you have been!

    Love and prayers,
    Katherine
